Journal 52 Week 4 ~ Building Characters

The week 4 prompt is to create a character for your art journal. My character is part angel, part pagan goddess. She is sweet, wild, loving, carefree, and yet she is so powerful that she isn’t to be trifled with. I guess you could say that she is a representation of all that I am and all that I aspire to be. This is still a work in progress. Below are two photos of the beginning stages…the sketch and the start of getting some color in it. Later on, I’ll be using watercolor, acrylic, and more ink to complete this entry. I’ll post again when it is finished, but wanted to share what I’ve got so far.

Full Moon

I tried my hand this evening with oil pastels. I’ll be the first to admit that it isn’t very good. After a conversation with my best friend today though, I was reminded of my word for the year, which is ‘fearless’ and I realized that I had work to do with living up to that word. While we were talking, she mentioned that she had been posting all of her art work; good, bad, and ugly because for her it was about the process and the fact that she was doing it and what the pieces represented; not how “good” they are. So, below I’ve decided to share my oil pastel and even a small collage which also isn’t my best…just because. My conversation with her today has sparked so many things for me…I feel another post coming on…in the very near future.
