New Painting the Feminine Pieces

I am completely loving the work, process, and breakthroughs of Connie Solera’s Painting The Feminine course. Below are the most recent two pieces which I’ve done while working my way though it. The first is a simple, but colorful spiral piece which was done completely with watercolor. I’ve always had a thing for spirals! The second was done using a combination of watercolor and acrylic. There is also some graphite on there, where the kneeling lady is coming through. I’m just not sure exactly how I will continue to draw her forward yet. I’ll be sure to post when she makes her way all the way onto the page.

June and July Projects…Mixed Bag

Well, my last few posts have found me talking about the digging and searching I’ve been doing. All of that is well and good…the digging and searching are necessary to find the treasures. For this post, I wanted to share some of my work from the last few months. I’ve even decided to share some of the Summer Solstice stuff.

Wow, I realized when I was checking off categories to tag the various types of work I’ve done in the last two months that I’ve accomplished a lot more than I thought! See…told you in the last post that it hasn’t been all drudgery, and now that I’m putting it all together I am realizing myself that I’ve been a bit more balanced than even I thought.

Let’s start with the Solstice stuff…I did a collage and made a hand sewn booklet.

I also finished a crocheted afghan I began many months ago and hadn’t touched in a long while.

I’ve also managed to get through another 2 weeks in Journal 52…Week 7 When I Grow Up and Week 8 Found Poetry.

I did rework the painting which I had posted about before that I had felt that I messed up.

And now, for the works in progress:

I am knitting a cardigan for myself…that pattern is called “Bright and Breezy Kimono” and can be found on allfreeknitting.com.

Work in progress number 2…I found some leaf shaped blades from a ceiling fan and have started working on one of them.

Last but not least is a beginning draft of what might be a character in an upcoming piece of writing…I’m not sure, but I sat down this afternoon to sketch something and she is what I came out with.

Journal 52 Week 6 ~ The Art of Love Letters

This particular, and rather messy entry was inspired by the “Immortal Beloved” letters of Ludwig Von Beethoven and the words written on the pages are taken from the third letter.

Though still in my bed, my thoughts go out to you my immortal beloved. Oh God why must one be parted from whom one so loves. Be calm- love me- today-yesterday. What tearful longings for you-you-you- my life- my all- farewell. Oh continue to love me- never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved. ~ Ludwig Von Beethoven

Journal 52 Week 4 ~ Building Characters

The week 4 prompt is to create a character for your art journal. My character is part angel, part pagan goddess. She is sweet, wild, loving, carefree, and yet she is so powerful that she isn’t to be trifled with. I guess you could say that she is a representation of all that I am and all that I aspire to be. This is still a work in progress. Below are two photos of the beginning stages…the sketch and the start of getting some color in it. Later on, I’ll be using watercolor, acrylic, and more ink to complete this entry. I’ll post again when it is finished, but wanted to share what I’ve got so far.
