#NaPoWriMo – Day 15 ~ Doubles

The prompt at NaPoWriMo today was to write a poem that incorporates the idea of doubles. I am going to be pre-writing the weekend’s poems today, and resuming with the prompts for the most part next week. An old friend is coming to town. Can’t wait to see her. Hope all of you have a fantastic weekend!

When we look in the mirror, there are two faces to see

The confident one that everyone else sees that says everything’s fine

Who gets up each day and faces the world with bravado and smiles

Exudes a confident air which makes others believe that they are complete

To see the other face, you have to look deeper into the reflection

Here you will see insecurity and the fear of not being enough

Worry about rejection or not being understood live deep within

Wondering if they will be turned away or scoffed at for their ideas

While both faces exist within each of us, there is a question to be asked

Why is it so difficult to see ourselves as others do?

    • Aww you’re too sweet Jules. As for the reflection of one another, how can it be otherwise? Looking forward to giving my gorgeous sister from across the pond a great big hug. xx

  1. I definitely don’t see myself the way others do. It never ceases to amaze me when I post a pic of myself, or of me & Russell, how many ‘likes’ it gets on Facebook. I always think that people are just being nice by saying what a great person I am. Cause my self esteem is just so beaten down that it’s hard to believe that anyone is being serious.

    • Well, I won’t try to convince you because I know that it can be difficult. I will tell you though that I think that you’re a great person too and as you know I’ve liked so many of your pics…because I genuinely like them…and not because I’m being nice. My wish for you is that someday you can begin to see what we all see ❤
