Today’s prompt at NaPoWriMo is to write a type of poem called a tritina. To read the explanation of how a tritina works, you can either look for the pattern in the poem or click on the link to NaPoWriMo to read their explanation.
Unwilling Game of Hearts
Pondering how a person can treat another as a game to be played
An inconsequential pastime to be enjoyed but not truly cared about
Worse yet, as an unwilling pawn in a game of which they have no idea
The players will plead innocence, perhaps asking how you came up with such an idea
To get an answer is futile, because chances are this isn’t the first round they’ve played
Simply tend to your heart-you know-the thing that they cared naught about
When things like this happen, the tenderhearted question what life is all about
Do not look to the wrong person for the answers, simply look within for an idea
Never, ever feel guilt-instead, feel joy for not knowing how this game is played
Your idea that hearts are not toys to be played with is one of the truths in life-just about the simplest.
Nice poem, great choice of words 🙂
Thanks Jade! 🙂
