NaPoWriMo ~ Day 4 Cruelest Month

The prompt today at NaPoWriMo is to write a poem in which you talk about which month of the year is the cruelest. T.S. Eliot thought that it was April. Personally, I’ve always found February to be the cruelest.

A new year has begun, yet it’s the same old Winter

From time to time it seems as if the sunshine and grass is waking

Only to have an icy blast of air rush through mercilessly

Bringing back grey skies and flakes of white that mock

After months of sameness, the spirit longs for warm breezes

Wondering if the flowers shall ever bloom again

February you are a mean one, refusing to give up your icy grip

March may be tricky but at least she brightens up the palette

With bursts of yellow daffodils and forsythia bushes

So please, just go-all this dreary monochrome is getting old

    • Very true JoJo, but it’s kinda hard to write about a universally cruel month lol. Imagine that February is awesome in many areas…but not in our neck of the woods 😉
