Card of the Day ~ November 7, 2015

Today’s card is from the Gaian Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert.

9 of Air

The Nine of Air asks if you have entered into a state of deep sadness. The woman in the image on the card is embracing a stone pillar, which is a symbol of grounding. We all have these times of sorrow and worry in our lives. It isn’t a matter of shame. This card pops up to remind us to release the thoughts which tend to pop up in most of us when we are feeling this way…the thoughts about what we could have done or should have done…in other words, getting stuck in a loop of beating ourselves up or letting our fears get the best of us. This card holds no judgments. There is no prescribed timeline or way to tell you to feel. If however, you find yourself in a state of negativity or depression…remember that you are never alone.

If you have never practiced grounding, I’ll give you a crash course. Look at the image on the card. See yourself as that woman. Feel yourself embracing that stone and allowing what is troubling you to travel into and through that stone pillar which is buried deep into the earth. The earth is a willing receptacle to which we can send our troubles and sorrows to be healed. Many people refer to earth as a mother, which is a perfect way to see it as you ground yourself. Imagine the earth as a loving, nurturing mother who is there to listen and hold you in love.

  1. Funnily enough I slumped into a depressive cloud last night. I’ve woken up to grey skies, wind and rain and the lack of will to do anything. Meh. Your cards seem to fit my moods every day and I find it remarkable. Now I need to go and find a big stone…

    • Aww, hope that today finds you feeling better Jules. You have access to some of the big stones that I would love to lay my hands on someday…umm…somewhere right around Surrey I’m thinking you just might find one šŸ˜‰

  2. Since I don’t know what it’s like to have a loving and nurturing mother, this would be extremely hard for me to imagine or visualize. šŸ˜¦
