the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.

The topic of intuition is sort of borderline as far as being paranormal, but it is definitely outside of the scientifically explainable. Intuition is one of those gifts which were were all blessed with to some degree. There are people who just seem to be more in tune with it than others. Some say that we can all be extremely intuitive if we open up to it. Others feel that some of us are simply born with more of the ability than others.

We’ve all read amazing stories about mothers just knowing that her child was in trouble, or family members having an awareness that someone was ill before being told about it. I think we’ve all experienced the feeling in the pit of our stomachs that something wasn’t right about someone, and later find out that our feeling was right. As we get older, many of us learn to listen to our intuition more than we were younger, because we have learned from experience that negative things can happen when we ignore it.

My most difficult lesson regarding intuition is knowing that it is okay to trust it when my gut tells me to steer clear from someone. Until not long ago, I would feel guilty about making an early decision about a person…as though it was a flaw on my part to just not want to get too close to some people…like I should just give them a chance. Many of us were raised to think that we are obligated to give people a chance until they prove otherwise. This particular area of intuition could be a post on its own, so I’ll move on.

I’ve always found intuition to be fascinating and have wondered if there is a supernatural element to it. Perhaps it is just another part of the human mind which hasn’t been able to be discovered and proven. Whatever it is, I am growing more thankful and aware of it all the time. What do you think about this subject?

  1. I am not sure if I have functional intuition since I seem to keep making the same mistakes in my life over and over and over again.

    • Well JoJo…I have that same malfunction about some stuff. At least in my case, and probably in yours too, I don’t think that the intuition is flawed…it is the willingness to listen to it. One example for me is that my intuition will tell me that someone should be avoided and I sometimes ignore that because I was always taught to give people a chance. Not so much anymore. The older we get the more trusting we are of our gut…at least I want to think so 😀
