NaPoWriMo Day 22 ~ Write A Poem for Children

The prompt today at NaPoWriMo is a bit surprising after yesterday’s…which is why I love using the prompts in the first place. You never know what you’re going to get and I do love a challenge.

The Moon Above

When you look up at night and see the stars
Twinkling ever so brightly above you
Remember that I’m never very far
That I’ll always be here, whatever you do

Dare to allow your feet to follow your dreams
You can be whatever your heart does wish
Whether it’s flying a spaceship or spending your days wading in streams
You just keep on shining and never allow your light to be extinguished

Be a believer in magic and fairies and ghosts
Let no one convince you that you are wrong
The ability to see for yourself is what matters the most
And no matter what they say, daydreams will help keep you strong

Always stand tall and remember these days
Keep your head up my darling, all the way to the moon above
With your mind and eyes open stay true to your ways
And never forget how much you are loved

  1. Oh that’s happy and sad…it’s one of those moving to my gut happy things that also tears at my heart. Beautiful!

I always stay strong in my daydreams.

    • Aww thank you Jules. I understand that feeling as I’ve read things that have the same impact on me. Just didn’t realize that this piece would have that effect on someone. Staying strong in daydreams is what gets me through sometimes!
