Seeing The Light

The prompt today at NaPoWriMo is to write a poem in terza rima. If you want more information on what terza rima is, just click on the link above.

Seeing the Light

This long, dark tunnel seems without end
The cold seeps into my bones
I wondered at times if my heart would mend

Caught up in a fantasy, convinced it was real
Making mountains of hills, living in denial
Always having to guess how you might really feel

All was golden between us, at least for a while
We shared and dreamed and laughed till we cried
Then the day came for truth…the end of the smiles

Perhaps the signs were there but from my eyes they did hide
For my heart wished to see a future bright
Eventually fantasy and truth did collide

Though reality sometimes rips through the soul like a blight
In the end it is better to have seen the light

    • Thanks Jules. Pretty sure that the tunnel is a rite of womanhood. Just hoping that you’ve found your light at the other side…and I’ll bet that you have with the way that your writing and photography are shining!
