NaPoWriMo Day 7 ~ Art Supplies, How I Love Thee

The prompt today from the NaPoWriMo site is to write a love poem. The twist in today’s prompt is that the object of the poem be inanimate. So, I decided to write a love poem to my art supplies.

Art Supplies, How I Love Thee

When I hold you my heart quickens, my dear sweet brushes and pens
Visions of you dancing across paper and canvas
Sometimes haunt me even in my dreams

My darling watercolors, when I open your box
And see the hues on your tubes, the desire to swirl and blend
Is too much to resist…I simply must

Simple sensations such as the smell of you, precious paper
Or the sensual feel of thee canvas, when my fingers lightly brush your surface
My heart swoons and I impatiently await more moments with you

Never in a million years would I have dreamed
That my heart could be so filled with such longing that it feels like need
An obsession over which I have no power to control myself

The moments go so quickly when we are together, hours feel like mere moments
Even a lifetime with you would not seem like enough time
For us to do and express all of what is in our hearts and imaginations

Now that we’ve met, the thought of living without you is too much to bear
You have brought into my life joys which are immeasurable
Without you, oh mirror of my heart I would perish

    • I’m sure that you can Jules. I was just thinking yesterday that I need to go and look at your other site soon to see if you’ve posted any new stuff. Maybe I can get around to that today. πŸ™‚
