Today’s prompt over at NaPoWriMo’s site is to write a ballad. Four line stanzas; rhyme pattern of A,B,A,B and a syllable count of 8,6,8,6.
We walked across the shaded vale
On a hot summer’s day
And no one will believe our tale
No matter what we say
Through the air, the fairies did sail
We sat and watched them play
Their radiant faces so pale
Quickly they flew away
We bring with us cakes and some ale
Hoping that if we stay
Maybe again they’ll cross our trail
Once more, it’s not today.
